French Revolution

Eight original lithographs created in 1989 for the bicentennial of the French Revolution, and displayed in the salons of the Hôtel de Ville de Paris during the celebrations organized by Jacques Chirac, then mayor of the capital.

From the Serment du Jeu de Paume to the Reign of Terror, the series traces the major events from 1789 to 1794: the Women's March on Versailles, Varennes, Rouget de Lisle, Madame de Lamballe, Louis XVI, Charlotte Corday and Marat, La Tricoteuse.

Printed on the Machet workshop presses on Arches paper, in a limited edition. Each copy is hand-enhanced with watercolor by the artist, then signed: no two are identical. The colors of the piece you receive will therefore differ slightly from the photograph — write to us if you wish to choose from several copies.
